Right now my wife is probably at conversation school for screaming vomiting shitting with the toilet door open monsters. Yeah, I’m just giving the highlights. They’re called kids. But it’s the adults she has to worry about this time. Got a meeting on Monday so she probably won’t be able to see me. No, that’s not the headline. She has a meeting to prepare for and she spent an extra hour to be with me as I ate, because nobody should eat alone. Her feeling, and I agree. After all the strife, the ocean’s wide divide and she’s there chatting with me, no pressure, no tension, and yet we’re talking about food. I tell her about the subota, sweet and sour pork, I couldn’t stop eating for lunch. She laughs when I put too much wasabi in my soumen and get the classic whoa this is too hot when I semi-slurp in my first batch of noodles (which I notice too late has a blob of the green fire clinging to it). How amazing is all that?
Of course the pressure is off now that I have daily bags of nutritious calories flowing through me. But with the pressure off we can both agree eating to gain your weight back, eating for a goal is work, drudgery, and no fun at all. And eating should be fun, we both agreed.
It’s nearly 11:00 and she’s probably still there now. In a bit I will email her about the good news for tomorrow (we can use the conference room for Skyping my brother's performance) and she’ll probably email back about being stuck in her school, that her work is far from finished.
Good luck my wife, I don’t know what else to say. Apart from thank you. Like a million times.
Aww... I love it when you talk about your wife, there is a quality to your writing that is so endearing. Also, what is your brother performing?? I seriously need to write and ask for myself I suppose!!
